Preparation
Welcome to the nature scavenger hunt! This activity is meant to challenge your sight, your patience, and your observation skills! Wherever you are, take one hour and go for a hike, a walk, explore a new area. Using the downloadable sheet attached, or simply using blank pages in a notebook, sketch little things you notice. Different kinds of leaves, wildflowers, maybe it’s an interesting rock, sketch what you see!
What’s great about this challenge is it really makes you identify the nature surrounding you! Take photos of what you sketch and drop it into Google-photo search. Can you identify the plants, the types of wildflowers or rocks you’re illustrating?
Hang up your artwork, or better yet, do this with some friends! Compare how you each illustrated the world. DO you notice something different, similar? What’s fabulous about art is no one’s work is better or worse, it’s simply ART! It’s YOUR perspective! Did you both observe different objects, why did you decide to draw what you drew? Talk about the WHY behind your decisions!
